Aileen Ryan BVMS, OV, MRCVS (Senior Partner)
Aileen graduated in 1980 from the University of Glasgow Veterinary School. She is one of our most experienced vets but is more commonly known as "the boss" - spending a lot of her time now managing and running the practice. She has lots of pets including Breezer the cat, Nick and Chalky the chinchillas and 2 degus! Oh and she is a full time mother as well!
Joseph Ryan BVMS, OV, MRCVS (Senior Partner)
Joe also graduated in 1980 from Glasgow Veterinary School. During his time at veterinary college he met his future wife Alieen Calder. In 1983 they started their own practice - Ryan and Calder and the business grew from there into the well established leader it is today. In his spare time Joe enjoys playing football.
Graham Dodds BVM&S, MSc(Research), OV, MRCVS (Associate Partner)
Graham graduated from the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies in Edinburgh in 2006. He took a year out of his studies in 2004 to conduct his own research project in Veterinary Pathology, using genetics and cloning to investigate the viruses responsible for Malignant Catarral Fever. The work he published earned him a Master of Science Degree from the University of Edinburgh's College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine in less than 12 months. He was born and brought up in Dunfermline and first appeared at Ryan and Calder as a school student on work placement. He has two house rabbits - Benjamin and Flump - and a border terrier called Campbell. He is also an accomplished magician!

Dr Jane Hunter BVMS, PhD, DipMedAcu, MRCVS
Jane graduated from Glasgow Veterinary School in 1983 and after spending several years as a general practicioner in small animal practice moved to a mixed practice in Southern Australia. After tyring of routinely driving hundreds of miles to calve cows she left Australia and returned to the UK where she went into Academia at Liverpool Veterinary School and the Royal Liverpool Hospital. It was here that her research into antibiotic resistance and the notion of genetic transfer of resistance from animals to humans, earned her a PhD. Following this, Jane travelled the world, lecturing in Zew Zealand and researching stranded marine mammals. In her months spent in Tazmania, Jane became interested in accupuncture - a medical interest that would help shape the rest of her career. In 2010 Jane splits her time between being a veterinary surgeon at Ryan and Calder and human accupunture specialist at local human surgeries. She holds a Diploma in Medical Acupuncture and runs special clinics to help treat many of our patients with chronic painful conditions. In her spare time Jane enjoys running, hill walking and teaching yoga. She has a cheeky cat called Guiness...who is black and white...obviously!
