Kittens

We vaccinate our kittens from 9 weeks of age. The course consists of 2 injections.
The earlier we can vaccinate your kitten the sooner he or she is able to go outside.
age at 1st vaccination
age 2nd vaccination due:
allowed out at this age:
9 weeks old
12 weeks old
13 weeks old
from this age onwards there is a 3 week gap between 1st and 2nd injections and then 1 week before he or she can be allowed outside.

Adult cats

We recommend yearly booster vaccinations for adult cats.
This will include a general health check and gives you an opportunity to discuss any health issues you may have about your cat.

We routinely vaccinate against the following diseases:
Feline calicivirus, feline viral rhinotracheitis
(commonly called "cat flu")
Feline panleucopaenia.

Additional vaccinations

Feline leukaemia virus
Rabies - required for the pet travel scheme

Feline Leukamia Virus

The virus is most commonly spread by close contact e.g. licking and grooming each other. It is also transferred from an infected queen to her kittens while they are still in the womb.
The virus can cause Leukaemia, but more commonly can produce tumours in various parts of the body. Symptoms will depend on which part of the body is affected. The virus can also suppress the cat's immune system, making it susceptible to a variety of other infections.
Vaccinations are available, blood testing may required in certain situations; we can advise you on this.
