What To Do in An Emergency Outwith Opening Hours
Should you have an emergency outwith normal
opening hours please call your
preferred Ryan and Calder branch and listen to the instructions provided. You will be given a phone number to dial which will put you directly through to the duty Veterinary Surgeon.
Important Note: At Ryan and Calder we believe in being there for you and your pet 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This is why all of our vets share the on-call duty - you will NOT be put through to a vet at an external company that is not familiar with you or your pet. This means that continuous care can be given to your pet by people you know and who know your pet. We will have all clinical history immediately available at all times.
Please be ready to give your name, pet's name and the nature of the emergency.
If your pet requires medical attention you will be asked to attend our Dunfermline branch where we have a fully equiped Tier 2 RCVS Accredited Animal Hospital with 24 hour staff present to deal with the emergency swiftly with the most up-to-date equipment and know-how.
House Visits
Unless completely avoidable, we respectfully request that all emergency cases are presented to our Dunfermline branch by you. This is to minimise the time between presentation and start of treatment. Our Veterinary Centre houses our laboratory, operating, and intensive care facilities.
Fees
An out-of-hours charge will be applied for cases seen outwith surgery times. This fee is variable depending on the time of the call-out and is payable at the time. For more information on fees and terms of business please see our
legal section.
