The Veterinary Surgeons
Joseph Ryan, Veterinary Surgeon
After graduating from Glasgow Veterinary School in 1980 and working in practice in Wales and Nottingham,
he set up his own practice, Ryan & Calder, along with wife Aileen Calder in 1982. Joe and Aileen took over George Gray's practice on his retirement.
They moved to the present premises carrying out extensive refurbishment in 1996. In his spare time Joe enjoys playing 5-a-side football and is a member of
Dunfermline Rotary Club.
Aileen Ryan, Veterinary Surgeon
As well as being practice manager, veterinary surgeon and a mother to two teenage boys, Aileen kept is busy
looking after 1 cat, 1 rabbit, 2 degus, 5 Guinea Pigs, and 1 chinchilla at home. She is interested in treating 'small furries' and is particularly keen on Chinchillas'
and Guinea Pigs. She also graduated from Glasgow Veterinary School in 1980.
Jane Hunter, Veterinary Surgeon.
Jane has traveled and worked extensively, her favourite place being New Zealand. She has a special interest in alternative therapies including homeopathy and acupuncture. At home she lives with Kenneth,
her husband and Guinness the black and white cat. She also qualified from Glasgow Veterinary School in 1983. Jane now only does acupuncture and homeopathic consultations
at the St Margaret Street clinic and has recently set up a massage and acupuncture clinic for people too,working out of a doctors surgery!
Emma-Jane, Veterinary Surgeon.
Emma-Jane graduated from Glasgow University Veterinary School in July 2003. Born in Canada, she has lived in such
exotic places as, Abu Dhabi and Dubai before her family finally settled in Glasgow. She lives with partner Ben and pussycat Abi. Before Emma-Jane moved into to her flat
in Dunfermline, Abi has been handed into us as a stray with 2 kittens, so she was a purrfect addition to their new house. Eddie is a recent
addition - a cutie, border collie pup from 2nd Chance.
Rachel, Veterinary Surgeon.
Rachel qualified from Glasgow Veterinary School in 2001. Originally from Aberdeen, Rachel trained at Glasgow
and then worked for a couple of years on the west coast at the seaside town of Largs. She moved to our practice in 2003. She lives with several guinea pigs,
2 degus and not forgetting husand Kenneth. Rachel's hobbies include playing badminton and when she was younger she used to train alongside the Scottish squad.
She is now a member of the badminton club at Bruce Street.
Graham, Veterinary Surgeon.
Graham qualified from Edinburgh Veterinary School in 2006. We were first introduced to Graham when
he came to see practice as a high school placement and then as a vet. student as part of his degree course. Graham is an
accomplished magician and attends Magic Circle meetings. He also likes old cars and is currently restoring
one for racing at knockhill.
Simon, Veterinary Surgeon.
Simon qualified from Glasgow Veterinary school
School.
He has 2 bearded collie dogs: Jenny Pot and Macaroni Tony. He is currently in the
midst of studying for his RCVS certificate in small animal medicine.
